1. Mexico City Serpientes - Christy Pisciotta (2B)
This high school infielder has the ability to terrorize you at the plate, with high ratings in all five major categories, and is one of the fastest players in this year's draft pool. He also makes me crave a biscotti.
2. Houston Hawkeyes - Milton Wall (2B)
I am told he is one of the best players in the draft. I say "told" because I personally never got to scout him, and he has yet to sign with the Hawkeyes. I assume Boras has his hands on this.
3. San Antonio Summer Knights - Johan Lewis (SS)
Here's an infielder who scouts raved about for his contact ability, but he can also drive it out of the park as well. His walk count may be low, but his contact suggests he can make magic out of balls only Vlad should swing at.
4. Richmond B' Hounds - Roman Clark (2B)
Yet another strong hitting infielder. Clark comes equipped with massive lefty-killing abilities and the maximum possible speed. For southpaws, facing Clark will be worse than trying to get The Flash out.
5. Texas Texans - Alan Fleming (SS)
The third Texas team in the Top 5 also picks an infielder with strong hitting and speed, but they are taking a huge risk on Fleming due to his poor health. Rumor has it he once fell from atop the Grand Canyon and found it so fun, he jumped off a second time.
6. Chicago White Sox - Miguel Zapata (RP)
The first pitcher off the board is a reliever who projects to have high stamina. His stuff is impressive, but some scouts worry about his lack of velocity.
7. Washington D.C. Senators - Clem Allen (1B)
This kid absolutely tore the cover off the ball at Collingswood HS, and there's nothing to suggest he won't do the same thing in the major leagues. He'll soon have fans singing "Oh My Darling, Clem(entine)!"
8. Milwaukee Miller Time - Diory Javier (SP)
The first starting pitcher off the board is a raw high school talent. Some are concerned by a potential weakness to lefties, but he has the potential to develop into a solid pitcher.
9. Vancouver Gulls - Ebenezer Kennedy (C)
What a bat! He's not only powerful, but efficient, seeing the strike zone very well. He may not make it as a catcher at the major league level, but can easily DH and terrorize the American League.
10. Cincinnati Motorboaters - Randy Bard (CF)
This UCF grad brings high-quality defense to the Motorboater organization, as well as a decent bat that can hit for contact. You can never underestimate the value of a top CF. Or a UCF student.
11. Kansas City atlanta - Alex Escobar (LF)
The switch-hitting Escobar brings in a solid bat that is a nightmare for all the right-handed pitchers of the world. Or he would have if he had signed already. He may be lost in Atlanta for all we know!
12. Minnesota Honeycrisp Apples - Keith Gray (3B)
Currently listed as an SS in the organization, but I'm not sure how that could possibly work out. Likes to play Battleship with the ball, as evidenced by enormous power projections.
13. Fresno Yokuts - Flip Leonard (RP)
Flip has the best splits in this draft, but threats from his mother about finishing college dropped him down to 13th. So far, mom has had her way, as Flip remains un-signed.
14. Fresno Yokuts - Oswaldo Castillo (RP)
Undeterred, the Yokuts drafted (and signed) another reliever. Castillo's high velocity and technical prowess threatens to be a gargantuan challenge for the opposition. But not Flip Leonard's mother.
15. New Orleans Missouri - Steve Duvall (SP)
High velocity and GB/FB ratio are Duvall's selling points. However, he'll need a lot of training against right-handed batters if he wants to excel in this league.
16. Chicago White Sox - Branch Davenport (CF)
Davenport is the second defensive CF taken in this draft, but that's not all he can do. He tied up lefties in knots at the plate.
